TOOLS OF THE TRADE (pun intended)

The next few sections will discuss some of the tools you will need to scalp trade.
YOUR COMPUTER
Obviously you’ll need the standard tools such as a trading account and charts (we’ll get to those shortly), but here is a topic I haven’t previously discussed in my other eBooks – your computer.
With most Forex trading techniques you can make do with a lame computer and slow Internet (dial up), however with the fast paced world of Forex scalping you really do need a reliably quick computer.

As a Forex scalper you need your charts to display the most up to date price possible, and you need your brokerage software to execute a trade promptly. Even with the best computer and a screaming fast Internet connection you’ll still have some lag time (not to mention how long it takes for you to physically move your mouse and click to enter a trade). Often as a scalper you’ll experience missing out on a few pips (of lost profit) because of slight inefficiencies (somewhat frustrating at times), but if you have to deal with a painfully slow computer and a molasses Internet connection speed then you’ll soon be tempted to introduce your computer to a sledge hammer. For a scalper lost seconds means lost pips which means lost profits. Even in a single day of trading this can add up to HUNDREDS of dollars, even thousands, of missed profits.
The first thing to do to ensure that your computer is running your trading tools smoothly is to NOT have other programs running on your computer while trading. Having many programs open eats up your computer’s resources, which can mean that your charts aren’t refreshing as fast, and it may take longer to execute a trade. If you must listen to music then please turn on the radio, don’t listen to MP3s on your computer, or God forbid, DON’T be streaming music off of the Internet unless you have a very fast computer with High-Speed Internet (even then it’s still better not to).
Chances are your computer itself is good enough to scalp trade with (unless you are using something that is 10 years old), however you may find that it starts running slower over time. If you ever find that your computer is running like molasses, or much slower than you remember from the past then it may be time to reformat your computer. It is generally a good idea to reformat your computer every 6 months (kind of like going to the dentist) to keep it running smoothly. If you don’t know how to do this then invite a tech-savvy friend over for a few beers to help you out with this.

Ultimate Budget Overclocking

We've uncovered something special, something we've not seen the likes of since the original Slot-1 Celeron C300A of yore, something wonderful. No, it's not full of stars, but it is full of silicon. We've uncovered the latest Intel budget dual-core processor and by Jove, it overclocks more crazily than a supermodel on an economy class flight.

On first impressions, the E7200 seems unremarkable, other than a bargain. Running at a stock 2.53GHz on a 1,066MHz FSB it's built on a 45nm process with 3MB L2 cache and can be snapped up for around $l20. That alone makes it the best value Core 2 on the market. But hang on, this is built on the new 45nm process, which means it'll run very cool and with CPUs already running at 3.2GHz on the same process just how fast will this boy run?

Even under normal settings the performance is impressive with it running at 30°C just passively cooled with a cheap $15 cooler. Under load this rises to 50°C, but even that is more than acceptable for day-to-day work and incredible for passive cooling. Feeling brave we initially went straight for 3.2GHz running on a 337MHz FSB and even with the stock cooler we got a stable overclock.

Taking the FSB up to 350MHz showed the first signs of strain. It would boot into Vista, but bluescreen shortly after or during benchmarking. Switching to the Akasa Blue Aurora soon sorted that problem out and once again we were stable, running at 3.33GHz. That's 800MHz or 30 per cent faster. It was, unfortunately, at this point our fun ran out, as beyond 350MHz our chosen motherboard, a budget ASUS P5LD2-X/1333 'lost' all the SATA hard drives. Even then it was happy to boot to the BIOS at up to a 390MHz FSB (3.7GHz) on the stock core voltage. Proving there's a lot of overclocking territory left to discover with this beauty.

Overclocking the processor is all about pushing up the front side bus speed. This not only affects the processor, but the memory speed. While many motherboards do enable you to 'clock-down' the memory bus it's always helpful to have performance memory parts installed, alongside your processor and performance cooler.

The first step to good overclocking has nothing to do with settings or indeed your hardware: it's to make sure you install your cooler correctly. That means don't overdo the thermal grease. A micron-thin film is all that's required, place a few blobs, push the heatsink on, remove it, wipe clean and then install it for a better contact. Of course, the BIOS is at the heart of overclocking, while Windows-based tools have somewhat alleviated the need for it, frankly this is still where the real work has to be done. An overclocking motherboard will, of course, greatly help as it will provide better recovery tools and more advanced tweaking options.

Do you feel that wealth will cause conflict in your life? Will it ruin some of your friendships? Would having too much money mean too much responsibility?
Whatever it is, you must find what has held you back from financial independence and you must, consciously, decide to change this belief. Ask yourself why you are not satisfied financially. What beliefs have held you back?
Try to get at your core belief about money. For example, a core belief for many people is “money is the root of all evil.” Around this belief develop many subsidiary beliefs that would automatically fall away if the core belief were changed. You must realize that money is not good or evil, but is a tool for expressing your creative energy in the physical world. Realize that you are a good person who will use money for the good of many. Realize that you are evolving to a new level in your emotional, psychological, and spiritual development, and that financial abundance will allow the full expression of your evolved, more expansive personality.
Take five minutes right now and feel the truth of these words:
MY FORMER BELIEFS WERE A DELUSION CREATED BY THE LIMITED BELIEFS OF OUR SOCIETY. I NOW REALIZE THAT MONEY IS A SYMBOL OF MY CREATIVE ENERGY, AND AS MY ENERGY EVOLVES, ABUNDANCE WILL AUTOMATICALLY INFUSE MY LIFE.
TAKE ACTION: Take two minutes to write down all the limiting beliefs you can recognize that you have regarding having excess wealth. Try to discover what your overriding, “core” belief regarding money is. Change this belief into a positive, and affirm the new belief for a few minutes. For example, if your core belief is “it is difficult to make money,” simply change it to “it is easy to make money.” Repeat this statement for several minutes right now, and whenever you feel a negative thought regarding money.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Whenever I start teaching someone how to trade the Forex the most common question they ask is “how much $ can I make each day doing this?”. I always smile and shake my head once they inevitably ask this question. Everyone always asks this question (I remember asking this question too when I first started), and when you start teaching your friends (if you haven’t already) then you too will get asked this question. Pay attention to how I answer it so that you too can give your protégés the correct answer.

It is first of all incorrect and inappropriate to state what can be expected in terms of dollars earned. Dollars (or whatever currency you are accustomed to) is by no means a relevant measuring unit to make comparisons with. If I told you that ‘John’ scored $50 today whereas ‘Simon’ scored $500 it would be understandable that at first glance you would more impressed with Simon’s results. But hold one, what if I then told you that Simon just scored a single 5 pip scalp trading 10 regular lots, but John made three trades scoring 10 + 17 + 23 pips trading just one mini lot for each. With whom would you now be more impressed with? Your answer should now be John. He score 10 times more pips than simple Simon. Pips, as you should now understand, are absolutely relative (meaning that you can make comparisons) but dollars are not because dollars are contingent upon how many lots you can afford to trade.
So now here is the answer you are looking for. A conservative scalper should be able to consistently (and by now from reading my other eBooks you should understand the significance of the word “consistently”) average 20 to 60 pips a day (depending on how skillful you are, and how aggressively you trade). For the following examples we’ll use a realistic 40 pips. (Actually you could do much better than what I just suggested, but I’d rather you start off with a low expectation and then let you find what your average is – which could be much higher.)
Ok, so how many dollars can this mean to you? Well here is where you write your own paycheck. It all depends on your account size. If using proper equity management principles all you can afford to trade is one mini lot then if you were to hypothetically capture 40 pips on average on EUR/USD then you would have made an impressive forty bucks. Ok, it’s nothing to get excited over but assuming you kept up that average for a full month (20 trading days) then you might have captured 800 pips for an $800 profit (surely it sounds better now – and an 800 pip month is impressive by anyone’s standards).
Continuing the above hypothetical scenario, if you were to trade 5 mini lots then you’d be averaging $200 daily or $4,000 monthly - - 1 regular lot (equal to 10 mini lots) would be $400 daily or $8,000 monthly - - 5 regular lots would be $2,000 daily or $40,000 monthly - - 10 regular lots would be $4,000 daily or $80,000 monthly. You get the idea.
I could seriously answer you that you that you could expect to earn $40 a day and you’d immediately lose interest (too bad for you because you’d miss a great opportunity) or I could casually state that you could expect $4,000 a day which might blow your mind (depending on what your current income level is if you are Donald Trump then this chump change would bore you) and you’d probably start suspecting that I smoke crack (I don’t, it’s just a derogatory slang expression implying absurdity).
So now do you understand why it is completely pointless to ask how much $ you can be making each day (on average)?
As a beginner assume that you’ll only average 20 pips daily (yes, it’s realistic) and then calculate your own “paycheck” based on the account size you expect that you’ll be trading with (applying proper equity management principles).
“Why do you talk about the money you can make earlier in the eBook and on your website rather than talk about pips?” Simply put, most people wouldn’t understand the significance of potential pip gains, but they sure can recognize the meaning of dollar figure examples. Any dollar amounts ever quoted on my website or in any of my writing is simply a realistic “carrot” to get people to realize that trading Forex can be a very profitable activity. So stated dollar amounts (always hypothetical of course) is just so that people who wouldn’t otherwise understand the opportunity can start realizing that this could possibly be for them. Let’s face it, everyone, surely including you (and me too), first gets attracted to Forex for the income possibilities. So when people initially ask you how much money one can earn trading Forex you can simply give them some dollar examples to spark their interest, then when you start teaching them you then explain that the dollars are irrelevant and that only pips really matter.

WHAT IS “SCALPING”?

“Scalping” can have various descriptions depending on whom you ask. Some folks would say that some “Forex Surfing” techniques are considered “scalps” due to the small size and duration of the trades. Different traders have different techniques for scalping, but one thing that can be universally agreed upon is that scalping involves tiny trades (both in amplitude and duration).
Typically, “scalping” is a specialized technique that involves making a tiny trade to capture a very small movement in the market. Whereas a “position trader” may engage in trades that are intended to last for multiple days to months (aiming for targets of hundreds to thousands of pips), and a “day trader” typically engages in trades that are intended to last for less than a day (aiming for targets ranging from 20 to 100 pips), a “scalper” engages in trades that might only last a few minutes aiming for targets of 5+ pips.

A scalper typically trades multiple Forex lots (mini or regular lots depending on the size of the account and risk tolerance), often more lots than one would normally trade if trading as either a “day trader” or a “position trader” (simply due to the fact that those styles typically require larger stops thus shrinking the amount of lots one can safely trade according to equity management principles). By trading more lots a scalper can achieve significant gains comparable to the gains expected by day & position traders in the same time span even though the scalper engages in much smaller individual trades. For example, a scalper that succeeds in capturing just 5 pips could have made $500 in under a minute if he traded 10 regular lots. In some circumstances (that you’ll learn later in this eBook) the scalper could successfully capture 10, 20, 30 or even more pips that (assuming he traded 10 regular lots) would result in profits of $1,000, $2,000, or even $3,000 in a very short amount of time. Some scalp attempts can occasionally yield over 100 pips (over $10,000 trading 10 lots) – and YES, set ups like that happen several times each month!
Scalping is often considered to be an advanced trading style. Though scalping is quite simple in concept many consider it to be advanced because it requires very quick decision making, very quick reflexes to react when set ups are spotted, and the scalper must be skilled at quickly executing a trade. The keyword for the scalper is “speed”. What makes “scalping” an advanced skill isn’t that it’s complicated; it is just that one must be both skillful and fast. Drinking coffee or energy drinks while scalping is a good idea. This style of trading certainly isn’t for slow minded or slow moving people (please don’t interpret this comment as being insulting for certain groups of people).
Scalpers often engage in multiple trades a day. Some scalpers execute dozens and dozens of trades each day, but don’t worry; I’ll teach you to do fewer. Scalps are executed in the direction of the current trend, usually taking little bites of the market movement, but can also be an entry technique into longer day trades to capture even larger profits. Skillfully scalping one can literally buy very close to the actual low and sell very close to the actual top of market movements; much closer than day traders, and certainly position traders, would normally accomplish.
Scalping is suited for some people & personalities better than others. Some traders love it, making it their primary trading style, whereas some traders hate it for their own personal reasons. Scalping is best reserved for traders after they are already familiar with other trading styles, but if this is your first exposure to trading Forex don’t worry about it – you can easily learn everything you need to know to make some HUGE profits by scalping just by reading this eBook (however I strongly suggest you first read my other eBook “Forex Surfing” as there you’ll learn many basics that I won’t be covering here in this eBook).
“Scalping” seems to me to have a slightly negative perception in the minds of traders in general. I believe it is simply due to the name of the technique, as “ticket scalpers”, people selling over priced tickets for concerts or sporting events, are commonly thought of as being sleazy. It seams to me that some “advanced / experienced” traders look down upon “scalping” techniques as being beneath them, or even unethical (perhaps this is from the days when floor traders at stock exchanges would sometimes scalp stocks). It’s funny that even FXCM clearly doesn’t like scalping for whatever reason (at the time of this writing FXCM has been hosting a mini trading contest called “King of the Mini”. If you read the contest rules it is stated as rule #8, “NO SCALPING – At FXCM’s discretion, entrants may be removed from the contest for employing trading techniques resembling ‘scalping’ or ‘picking’”. This doesn’t make logical sense to me since they profit for the pip spreads of each executed trade, so while writing this eBook I decided to ask FXCM why this is a rule. They responded saying that scalping is generally “frowned upon”, and though they permit traders to employ such techniques (since they profit from each trade entered) they simply disallow it for the contest because they feel it is an unacceptable practice for their trading contest. ). I don’t really know why there appears to be some kind of negative stigma to scalping, and I don’t think it is justified. As far as I am concerned a profit is a profit regardless of what trading technique used, and as a trader all that matters is the profits.

Currency Trading Strategy Number One :
When you are just starting out, strive to carve out 20 pips per session, and that’s it. Then, turn it off, and study some more. When you get eally good at it, you can then “graduate” to higher returns. So, set your goal at 20 pips and stick to it, until you are a grand master at this wonderful “business” called forex trading. I stress the word business. This is not a game, especially where your “hard-earned money” is involved.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Two :
Spend most of your time on the 15-min chart.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Three :
When you first start out in any particular session, look at the 1 hr chart to get an overall perspective on trend from one session to the next, and what it’s likely shaping up to be at the beginning of the upcoming new session.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Four :
Only look at the 5 min chart if you absolutely have to see what’s behind the current 15 min bar – especially where the bar is elongated, and may have just penetrated a pivot point; in other words, is price reversing course on the 5 min chart, which would obviously not yet be reflected on the 15 min chart?

Currency Trading Strategy Number Five :
Don’t dwell on the 5 min chart, as it contains a lot of “noise” that will whipsaw you to death.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Six :
MACD rules on the 15 min chart. Even if MACD is, say, trending up on the 1 hr chart, if it is trending down on the 15 min chart, that’s what you take your cue from. That’s not to say a shift in price direction is not in the works. It just means it’s coming, but not yet. In the meantime, you don’t want to miss what’s happening “in the now,” which is what is reflected in the 15 min chart.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Seven :
If MACD is trending down on the 15 min chart, and price is wanting to go north, price will sooner than later head south as it perhaps bounces off a pivot point, or gets turned around at a juncture caught by one of the other three “tools” you should be using (“reading bars,” MACD divergence, or trendline analysis). Same thing if MACD is trending up, and price is trying to head south.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Eight :
Only use MACD for divergence, not for buy or sell signals. It is a lagging indicator, and as such is useless as a trigger. It is too slow for that in the forex world.

Currency Trading Strategy Number Nine :
Again, MACD divergence on the 15 min chart is more significant than what you see on the 1 hr chart in the near-term. For those of you who don’t understand what divergence means, keep looking at my own personal forex trading examples on this page on a daily basis for examples of divergence. Basically, what it means is where you see MACD waves “waving” in the opposite direction to price action. That’s why I connect the top of the waves (in a downtrend) and the bottom of the waves (in an uptrend) to illustrate that the waves are “waving” higher in an uptrend and lower in a downtrend – in the opposite direction to where price is going.

Currency Trading Strategy Number 10 :
Always “protect” your money by using 20-30 pip stops. Mental stops are okay, but not if you are dead serious about using a “disciplined” approach to managing your money. You will lose three out of ten trades. The three losses should be kept to 20-30 pips. Your wins will by far surpass your small losses, and that’s what stop-losses are all about. Don’t be afraid to lose. Even professional batters strike out six out of 10 times. Lions are only successful 20% of the time in their chase for the kill. Professional golfers lose 95% of the time. Professional poker players lose 50% of the time. So, your chances are better at trading the forex, using my system of course, than in any other venue. Even businesses have “bad inventory.” And, life in general is not always “100%” for sure.

3 SIMPLE STEPS TO UNLEASH THE MAGIC POWER OF GOALS

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE WORLD AS POWERFUL AS CLEARLY DEFINED GOALS!
This is one of the most important secrets of life in physical reality. Have you ever wished that you could rub a lantern, release a genie and have all your dreams come true? That genie lives inside your brain, waiting to be awakened by the forceful commitment to your goals.
Remember this: your subconscious mind is the servant of your conscious thoughts. You have drawn to yourself all of the events and conditions of your life according to your beliefs and decisions. And remember this, for it has been proven time and time again: whatever you honestly believe about the world, your subconscious mind will draw to you in your reality.

As simplistic as this sounds, it is true. Believe that you are poor, and you will experience lack; believe that you are blessed with prosperity, and abundance will magically flow to you. Skepticaly? You should be. But before you dismiss these truths, give it a shot, for you will be honestly shocked by the results.
There are simple, definite steps to follow in order to convince your mind to manifest your desires.
1. Decide precisely what you want. The more specific you are, the easier it is for your subconscious mind to serve up what you desire. If, for example, you want a new job, decide exactly what you want to be doing, how much you will earn, and where you will work. Of course, you will always leave the details open to change, but this exercise convinces your sub sconscious that you are at least serious about your desires.
2. Write down your goal. The act of writing down your goal serves to clarify exactly what you want. It has been proven time and time again that people with written goals are far more successful in reaching them.
3. Repeat this goal to yourself several times throughout the day. Create a short statement of your goal which you can imprint onto your mind whenever you get the chance. Simply begin with the phrase “I am now attracting...” and add your goal to the end. Or try “I am blessed with...” and add whatever you desire. You don’t even have to believe this will work. Simply repeat it to yourself whenever you have a spare moment and wait for the magic to begin.
Take five minutes right now and feel the truth of these words :
I KNOW THAT WITH CLEARLY DEFINED GOALS I CANNOT FAIL. I WILL AIM HIGH AND I WILL HIT MY MARK. I WILL CHOOSE THE DIRECTION OF MY LIFE AND I WILL INEVITABLY REACH MY GOALS.
TAKE ACTION: Write down, specifically, one simple goal for your life that you have so far not been able to accomplish. Since we are, for these thirty days, focusing on finances, write down a financial goal for yourself. Repeat this goal to yourself each day and honestly believe that it is true. Pretend that it is true, expect that it is true, and act as if it were true.

Some Important Features of SOAP

SOAP stands for "Simple Object Access Protocol" but with the latest revision of the standard, Version 1.2, SOAP is no longer an acronym. The SOAP standard contains the information for how the messages should be sent, the format the XML appears in, the different primitive types supposed, the roles different pieces of software take during the transmission of the SOAP documents, and the type of transports available, such as HTTP.
As this standard moves forward, the name will change to XMLP for the XML Protocol. SOAP’s evolution has been muddied by the fact that it came from Microsoft. XMLP is a complete rewrite of the standard so that Web Services become even more cross-platform compatible. Because of this change, much of this vocabulary must evolve. Although the names will probably change, the general idea of each term will remain the same.

The SOAP standard is not just an XML standard. The standard includes how SOAP messages should behave, the different transports used, how errors get handled, and more.

SOAP Binding

This describes how a SOAP message works with a transport protocol such as HTTP, SMTP, or FTP to move across the Internet. It is important that SOAP moves across a standard protocol in order to communicate with other Web Service products.

Before SOAP, many developers created their own method of transmitting XML documents through a network. This works fine as long as the transmission is limited within a particular team. If, however, you need to work with another group either within or outside your company this becomes difficult because of training and possible modification to work with an XML transmission they may be using. By using a standard XML document on standard protocols, the work needed for collaboration will be minimal.

SOAP Message Exchange Pattern (MEP)

This describes how a SOAP document gets exchanged between a client and server. The SOAP message possesses a binding, such as HTTP, so that it can move across the Internet. The conversation between the client and server, both known as nodes, determines what actions both take.

Remember that SOAP is an XML encapsulation of RPC. Therefore, the MEP is completely request and response between the client and server (or other nodes). Thus, if there needs to be several interactions between nodes, this takes several requests and responses to complete transmission. This differs from other remote object technologies such as CORBA where the entire conversation occurs over one single connection.

SOAP Application

A SOAP application is simply an application that uses SOAP in some way. Some applications maybe entirely based on the SOAP standard or may just use the SOAP standard to receive code or software updates. Remember an application can produce, consume, or be an intermediary (or router).

SOAP Node

A node’s responsibility can include sending, receiving, processing, or retransmitting a SOAP message. A node is just a piece of software that properly handles a SOAP document dependent on its role. Besides transmission, a node is also responsible for enforcing that the XML contained in the SOAP document is grammatically correct according to the SOAP standard.

SOAP Role

A SOAP role defines what a particular node does. It may be a sender, receiver, or intermediary.

SOAP Sender

The node sending the SOAP request is the SOAP sender. If you think of a client/server example, when a client first makes a request, it sends a message to the server asking for some information.

SOAP Receiver

A server that receives the SOAP request is obviously the receiver. This is the server in the client/server model.

SOAP Intermediary

An intermediary looks at a SOAP message, perhaps acts on some of the information in the message, and then looks at the SOAP document for more information on where to pass the information in the document next.

A SOAP intermediary essentially acts like a router in a network. A router takes a look at a packet of information moving through a network, finds the packet’s next destination, and then sends it to that destination.

A SOAP intermediary does the same thing but it’s looking at SOAP messages and information in the XML to send the message to the proper location. This occurs when a large corporation possesses many SOAP servers that perform different functions, and the SOAP intermediary may have access to the firewall. Once it receives the information, it looks at the XML to see where to send the message next. It may act on or modify the data before this retransmission, but it is not necessary.

Message Path

A SOAP message moves from sender to receiver perhaps through several intermediaries. The resulting route the message takes is the Message Path.

Initial SOAP Sender

The node sending the first SOAP request is the initial SOAP sender.

SOAP Feature

A SOAP feature is a piece of functionality in software supporting SOAP that deals with a feature of SOAP. Examples include securing the transaction with a secure protocol or the software acting as an intermediary.

A content management system (CMS) is a computer application used to create, edit, manage, search and publish various kinds of digital media and electronic text

Each component has its own lifecycle (owner, version, approval, use) and can be tracked individually or as part of an assembly. CCM is typically used for multi-channel customer-facing content (marketing, usage, learning, support). CCM can be a separate system or be a functionality of another content management system type (e.g., ECM or Web Content Management).
